You’ll learn how to create delicate puff pastries, whisk up the creamy custard, and hand-mold the pastry into tins. • We’ll get to know one another over a cup of coffee. I’ll share the history of the pastel de nata and explain what’s special about the recipe we’ll use. • Next, we’ll dive into the art of puff pastry, creating the essential buttery, flaky layers, and prepare the smooth, creamy custard filling. • Shape the pastry into tins and then watch your creations bake to golden perfection. Come with me, a chef, for a behind-the-scenes look at Lisbon’s vibrant food culture, iconic markets, and historic streets. • Begin the morning at Manteigaria, where you’ll taste what many call the best pastel de nata in Lisbon. • Stroll through Mercado da Ribeira to meet some of my favorite vendors who keep the city's kitchens stocked with the freshest seafood, produce, and African ingredients, including century-old shops dedicated to Lisbon’s culinary staple—salted cod. • Sip cherry liquor at one of the oldest ginjinha bars and wrap up at Cinema São Jorge with a glass of Portuguese wine and local snacks, overlooking Avenida da Liberdade from one of the city’s most iconic balconies. You'll leave having experienced a true taste of Lisbon, with my recommendations for exploring more dining options in the city.

Aprende a preparar pasteles de nata en una pastelería de Lisboa

Since 2018, this is Portugal's only cooking class in a real bakery, taught by a professional pastry chef! This masterclass can be hosted by award-winning chef João Batalha, co-founder of Pastel de Nata concept store Nat'elier, or other experienced in-house pastry professionals such as chefs Silvia Sousa or Adriano Cardoso. After gearing up you'll go inside our pro kitchen where you'll learn how to bake the irresistible Portuguese Custard Tarts (aka Egg Tarts) everybody loves! The workshop starts with an intro to the history of Pastel de Nata. This is HANDS-ON experience! Unlike other Pastéis de Nata classes in Lisbon, we will show you how to make puff pastry from scratch. Afterwards, we will make the custard and bake it all inside a professional oven. During this class we all work together as a team (max. 12 people) Everyone makes at least 3 tarts by hand - learn how to laminate the dough, shape it with a specific Pastel de Nata technique, fill in the custard, etc. ☕We'll end tasting the warm tarts with a drink of choice, crafted by our baristas. Welcome to my Pastry Shop "Casa dos Ovos Moles"! You´ll learn to cook the most famous portuguese pastry, the Pastel de nata (portuguese custard tart). You´ll taste if not the best, the freshest one. It´s on your hands! In a very homy way you discover how to make the pastel de nata from the scratch, including the puff pastry. It´s all handmade. First we cook it an the end we taste the delight with a Porto wine or a Ginja liquor, tchim tchim. You know that the pastel de nata recipe was created inside a monestary? I tell you the History. Hands on! It can be schedule Monday to Friday - 11H or 15H (2H duration).
